The SLA's work with CILIP

The SLA works on an ongoing basis to ensure school libraries are included in educational discussions and recognised as part of the educational landscape. We know that school libraries can contribute to finding solutions for some of the most important issues facing education today - wellbeing of pupils and staff, literacy levels, the vocabulary gap, and cultural capital to name a few.

We are delighted to have a strong working relationship with CILIP, and work with them on issues and campaigns that benefit from a whole sector approach.

Great School Libraries

The campaign is a collaboration between CILIP, CILIP's SLG and the SLA which has the ultimate aim of bringing school libraries and librarians back to every school in the UK, but also by gathering data on the quality and quantity of school libraries that already exist.

Many people do not realise school libraries are not statutory and that the UK governments do not collect any data on reading provision or school libraries in schools. Find out more here

Libraries Week

We are pleased to be taking part in Libraries Week each year in early October. We'll have announcements, reveals and competitions, so remember to check back for more information.

Follow @librariesweek on Twitter to keep up to date on the campaign and join in the conversation at #LibrariesWeek.

Book Loan Data

We are pleased to be working with CILIP, Neilsen and the Library Management Suppliers for the school library sector to show what's really happening in school libraries today. More will be announced on this soon.

Support us

As a charity, our focus is on helping those that need it. But that means we need your help too. Whether it's volunteering, fundraising or donations, it makes a huge difference to the number of pupils we're able to support.

Training

The School Library Association offers a wide range of on demand and real time training to enhance the personal and professional development of everyone who works in school libraries.
