Susan Staniforth

Susan has 35 years experience of working in public and school libraries and was Manager of Library Services for Education (LSE) for 11 years until July 2014. Prior to this she worked with public libraries and was responsible for children’s services in the south of Gloucestershire as well as sharing responsibility for some county wide children’s services. Susan’s time with LSE gave her a wide range of experience in schools in both the state and the independent sectors which she is now offering on a full freelance consultancy basis to schools including library support and INSET sessions.

Susan holds an Honours degree in Librarianship and is a Chartered Librarian. She is a member of CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals).

She was Chair of the South West branch of the Youth Libraries Group (the children’s branch of CILIP) from January 2010 until December 2011 and has been a member of the School Libraries Group national committee (the schools branch of CILIP) since January 2009.

Susan is a Board member and Treasurer of the School Library Association and has been part of this organisation since February 2012. She was also chosen to be part of the Booktrust School Library pack 2013 panel in 2013.
