Barbara Band

Barbara BandBarbara has over 25 years’ experience as a professionally qualified librarian working in school libraries as well as project management practice gained in business and non-profit organisations. She is a Chartered librarian, was President of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), and has won many awards in recognition of her work as a school librarian, creating inspiring spaces and developing programmes that not only encourage children to read but also support their learning and personal development.

Currently Chair of the School Library Association Central & East Berkshire branch, Barbara publishes regularly on a range of library, reading and literacy related topics, delivers associated training to both librarians and teachers, and works with a variety of literacy organisations to promote the value and benefits of school libraries. Workshops are informative and practical, backed up with research and tailored to individual needs and requests.
