Join the Summer Book Club

Date: 23 04 2024

A perfect transition activity for Year 6s moving to Year 7.

Summer Book Club is a fun transition activity based around everyone reading the same book with an engaging set of questions and activities. It is for new Year 7s to do over the summer as part of their preparation for secondary school. It will help build their
confidence as readers and means that when they start school they will all have something in common.

This year's read is Wonderscape by Jennifer Bell, a thrilling adventure where gaming and time travel collide.

Walker Books is supporting this initiative by providing the e-book for 99p (from 15/7/24 to 18/8/24) and giving schools the opportunity to buy sets of books at a discounted price of £4 per book.

The following free materials will be available:

  • Resources for introducing Wonderscape at an assembly or transition meeting
  • An Activities and Questions pack for Year 7s to do at home over the summer
  • Self-evaluation surveys to measure impact
  • Resources for running a discussion during Year 7 induction in September
  • Access to a live author Q&A with Jennifer Bell at 9.15 am, Monday 23rd September
  • An opportunity to win copies of Legendarium, Jennifer Bells’s next book in the series, for your library

All the materials will be available early in the Summer term. Sign up for free now to make sure you receive them.
