Literary Lifelines: Using Books to Craft Resilient Futures

Free to Members! Find out about ‘Learning to Live with Fog Monsters’ -  a resource based on research conducted at the University of the West of England

Research shows that living through the COVID-19 pandemic is going to have a lengthy impact on children. But it’s not just the pandemic. Children are often dealing with many other difficult - and typically invisible - social and economic challenges, such as climate change and news of war.

We know that teachers recognise these issues, but sometimes it is difficult to find appropriate resources that support pupils in thinking and talking about their experiences and concerns.

Based on 18 months of research that listened to children aged 6-11 share their experiences of the pandemic, ‘Learning to Live with Fog Monsters’ is a free resource with accompanying teaching notes that aims to support school staff in delivering high-quality, research-informed lessons to improve KS2 pupils’ understanding of challenging times and boost their wellbeing and resilience.
